INSPIRE Squash Junior Open 2024

Chris Ogden

25 May 2024

We had a fantastic weekend running our first ever England Squash Silver Event last week!

The Tournament is one of 6 England Squash Sanctioned Silver Tournament during the season. These attract some of the highest Ranking Juniors from across the Country!

This is the first time Macclesfield has hosted a Tournament of this Level. We used both Macclesfield Leisure Centre & Prestbury Squash Club as the Venues for this Tournament.

Over the weekend there were 226 matches across 10 Age Categories contested!

It has been a great experience organising & hosting our first Silver event. All the hard work paid off, resulting in an enjoyable & successful Tournament for all.

It wouldn't have been possible without the support of Everybody Health & Leisure and all the volunteers who helped the weekend run smoothly!

There were a number of our own Juniors from the INSPIRE Squash Academy who entered! A total of 9 kids competing across the different age groups.

The best result came from Madisen Walters, who having just turned 15, had to play up in the Girls U19's! Despite playing much older Girls, she finished 2nd!

There was some brilliant Squash on display and some hotly contested Matches. It was great to see some of the best Junior Players in the country competing!

Madisen had an incredible Tournament, finishing 2nd in the GU19's!

This Silver Tournament is the final Tournament of our calendar, which has seen us also host 3x Bronze Tournaments & 3x Copper Tournaments, which cater for Juniors of all abilities.

We are proud to be able to provide Juniors with the opportunity to compete & develop their Squash further. It's part of our wider Junior Squash Programme which provides kids the opportunity to play, learn & love the game of Squash!
