Last week we hosted our first ever BE INSPIRED Cup at Macclesfield Leisure Centre! This is our brand new Primary School Squash Competition that sees local Primary Schools take each other on in an every points counts contest to see who comes out on top!

The Tournament was run as a Pilot as part of the Everybody Health & Leisure 10 Year Anniversary celebrations.

Year 6 Students from Dean Valley & Marlborough took part in the Competition to see would would be named the inaugural BE INSPIRED Cup Champions!

The Level of Squash on display was immense! Considering most of the kids had never played Squash before, it was so good to see the kids compete in some very close Matches!

There were some closely contested Matches which were all conducted with amazing effort, fantastic team spirit and an impeccable attitude from all those that took part!

The Matches were played with adapted rules to help the kids compete having never played Squash before.

They played with a Mini Squash Red Ball on a shortened Court. Serves had to go above the Service Line but only had to travel Cross Court to be classed as "in". From there all other rules were practically the same as a full game of Squash!

The kids refereed the games and Matches together, which were all played as 3 Games to 11 points, at 10-all it went to sudden death! Every point counted towards a team total to decide the overall winners of the Competition!

There were some very red faces by the end after some very close games and Matches. However the smiles on the faces of the kids was great to see. It goes to show what an amazing and enjoyable Sport Squash is!

Eventually the Competition came to a close with Dean Valley A being named the BE INSPIRED Cup 2024 Champions by accumulating 226 points overall! Dean Valley B finished in 2nd place with 204 Points with Marlborough on 177 in 3rd Place.

Well done to all who took part in our Pilot Competition! It was a huge success and we are super excited to work at developing a full programme of competition in the 2024/25 Season!
